Last year, thirty-three students represented Tison at the
2021-22 UIL Academic Meet by competing in twelve academic events against students from six other middle school campuses with up to 42 students competing in each event.
At least one Tison student placed in the top six of all twelve events, with the 6th/7th grade team for UIL Maps, Graphs, & Charts shutting out the competition by placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! I'm extremely proud of the performance of our students who competed at the academic meet last year.

This year, Tison will compete against different schools since we've entered into a different district. The schools are: Smith MS & Wheat MS (Cleburne), Acton MS & Granbury MS (Granbury), Loflin MS & Nichols MS (Joshua), and Hall MS.
As of right now, the 2022-23 UIL Academic Meet has not been scheduled, but it is traditionally held sometime in February. We do know that Hall MS is hosting the event. As soon as the date is set, we will let parents know.
We want students to compete in as many events as interest them and are more than welcome to attend as many event practices as their schedules allow. However, events may conflict with each other at the academic meet. For example, if a student is interested in competing in both UIL Spelling and UIL Impromptu Speaking and both events start competing at the same time, the student will have to choose to compete in one event over the other.
The host school will provide a
conflict pattern table with beginning and ending times for events in a easy-to-read format. As soon as we receive the
conflict pattern table, it will be available to view on the
Tison UIL Academics Canvas Course.
