The English language provision at GES is designed for Anglophone children who attend a French or Swiss primary school and want to develop their literacy skills and confidence in the core skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening in English.
The classes are for children in the equivalent of Years 5 or 6 and are designed for students to achieve an equivalent level in English as those who attend an English-language primary school. Students are eligible for this course if they understand and speak English fluently.

Programme and outcomes
The programme will be taught by an English teacher who has extensive experience with bilingual children. The children will develop confidence in core language skills through reading, writing and performance activities. Lessons will include key points of grammar as well as analysis of age-appropriate literature, writing for various audiences, and the use of narrative techniques. The aim is for students, by the end of the year, to be at an equivalent level as their peers in an English-language school and have the possibility to enter an English-language Secondary school. Sign up is, therefore, for a full year so teachers can work with the students to reach the set objectives.

Sessions and fees
The programme will be taught in weekly Wednesday afternoon sessions from 13:30 - 15:30.
There will be a max. of 15 students per class.

The cost is 2300CHF for the full year (in three termly payments). Should a student start at a different point during the year, the programme will be invoiced pro-rata. GES Finance department will invoice confirmed participants.

The sessions will resume on Wednesday 31 August 2022 and places can be reserved with a 200CHF deposit.
