We're delighted to welcome David McGuinness, founder of tour operator Travel The Unknown, to C The World to talk about one of history's most iconic routes: The Silk Road.

Where East met West for the very first time, the vast Silk Road encompasses some of the world's great cultures and classic cities with names that resonate across time - from Xi'an, where Silk was discovered, through Kashgar, Samarkand, Bukhara, Isfahan and finally into Istanbul where this route arrived into Europe. As well as Silk, a wide array of produce flowed in both directions as well as ideas, religions and ways of life. Today this route comprises a fascinating array of countries, languages, and faces, and is full of stories, both old and new.
