Volunteer to serve on the NOIRLab TAC
Dear Colleagues, The Time Allocation Committee (TAC) process is a fundamental part of the NOIRLab’s mission to promote excellence in astronomical research by providing access to information about the universe through state-of-the-art facilities, surveys, and archives. However, we cannot fulfill that mission without YOU!

We invite you to be part of the TAC review panel!  Volunteer panelists are needed with expertise in all areas of astronomical and astrophysical study.  Serving on a TAC panel is a particularly excellent opportunity for early career researchers to better understand the time allocation (and funding allocation) review process and what reviewers look for in successful proposals. Furthermore, serving on a TAC panel allows you to meet with new (and old) colleagues in a scientifically stimulating environment!

As a TAC panel member, astronomers are asked to review and grade proposals, providing written feedback for a subset of these. The panels meet to discuss the proposals twice a year (two days in the first week of May and another two days in the last week of October or first week of November) either via Zoom or in person (with the frequency TBD).
