Dear NORSU Students, Faculty and Staff,

Good day!

We would like to inform you that since full face-to-face classes are not yet implemented as of this time of the pandemic, we would like to help you through our online consultation. Please read the conditions that are stated below before deciding in taking the online consultation.
1.) Presently we have 1 physician and 2 nurses for about 14,500+ students and about 650+ employees (Campus 1 and 2 only).
2.) The University Medical Clinic will only cater Main campus 1 (Dumaguete) and Main campus 2 (Bajumpandan) students, faculty and staff.
3.) Online consultation will be followed for students who are not yet having face-to-face classes.
4.) Faculty and staff may follow online consultation for those with infectious and respiratory complaints but may have physical consult for other conditions if on duty at the university.
5.) For online consultations, more  or less 10 patients may be catered per day but dependent on the number of patients that goes to the clinic for physical consult, the number of contact tracing cases encountered inside the university in that day & number of scheduled meeting.
6.) Consultations will be based on the "first to send-first to be served" via Gmail.
7.) The Medical clinic does not cater EMERGENCY consultations via online and also does not cater cases that NEEDS DIRECT MEDICAL ATTENTION/TREATMENT via online, but such cases that directly needs medical attention must go and consult directly to the nearest Hospital/City Health/Equipped or Accepting Clinics.

8.) Medications will be given if stocks are available at the NORSU clinic and instructions will be given on how to get the medicines, but prescriptions will be provided if medications are not available.
9.) The Medical clinic does not cater COVID-19 related consults and treatment (COVID-19 Positive, Primary Close/Secondary Close Contacts with Symptoms). It must be referred to City Health/Local IATF/Hospital of choice for proper documentation, contact tracing, quarantine/isolation advise, monitoring and treatment.
10.) As of the present the Medical clinic is helping in the consultation and treatment of students but does not issue MEDICAL CERTIFICATES for online consultations for the university students. Those who wanted medical certificates can go to the nearest Hospital/City Health/Accepting Clinics and bring their prescriptions. Exemptions may apply upon the guest university physician's discretion.
11.) If there is a progression of the symptoms anytime after the online consultation, physical consultation with a doctor must be done immediately without fail at the nearest hospital, City Health or any nearest accepting clinic for further evaluation, management, physical assessment, treatment and possible admission.
12.) If there is/are adverse effect/s from the prescribed medicines after taking including allergic reactions, medicine intake must be stopped and physical consultation with a doctor must be done immediately without fail at the nearest hospital, City Health or any nearest accepting clinic for further evaluation, management, physical assessment, treatment and possible admission.
13.) The consultation may or may not be recorded based on the availability of software or other needed resources.

*Some Examples of Emergency cases and also those that Needs Direct Medical Attention:
a.) Seizures                                                                  b.) Chest pains
c.) Fainting/Loss of Consciousness                        d.)Difficulty breathing
e.) Persistent Fever (38.5 degrees & above)           f.) High Fever (39 degrees & above)            
g.) Moderate/Severe abdominal pains/headache  h.) Pregnancy-Related Emergencies/Complaints  
i.) Motor Vehicular Accidents                                    j.) Persistent vomiting & not able to eat      
k.) Persistent bleeding of any kind                           l.) Eye trauma/Head Injury  
m.) Trauma that may consider possible fractures
n.) Increase Blood Pressure with or without  symptoms (140/90 & above)      
o.) Other known conditions not mentioned above which needs direct/emergency medical attention.

The above are the initial conditions to guide the online medical consultation but may be revised from time to time as seen fit and needed.
