Thanks for your interest in the LACONI Youth Services Board!

The board plans professional development and networking programs for Youth and Teen librarians and staff in northern Illinois. Nominations are welcomed all year and representatives serve two year terms. Our goal is to maintain representation from a broad spectrum of library sizes, types and locations in northern Illinois and include members with a variety of interests, identities and experiences.

To be a member of the board, you must be currently working in a Youth Services (children’s or teen) position at a library and your library must be a member of LACONI. Only one person from each library can be on the YSS board.

To give you an idea of the time commitment, here are the current expectations for board members:
*Attend most, if not all, of the four programs per year for LACONI YSS (all-day events that take place virtually or in person at various locations in the Chicagoland area).
*Attend most, if not all, of the five planning sessions per year for LACONI YSS (4 morning meetings and 1 all-day meeting that take place virtually or in person at various locations in the Chicagoland area)
*Be a member of at least one committee on the board that requires some work outside of the meetings. These committees include publicity, refreshments, programming, nominations, etc.
