The 2023 Educational Platform is focused on helping youth identify their skills, strengths, sparks/passions, personal connections, and knowledge they already have in their toolbox and finding ways to expand their toolbox through mentors/advisors, leadership skills development, working in diverse teams, incorporate external resources, and other 4-H opportunities to continue building their toolbox.
We will need education sessions designed for in-person and virtual platforms. Our 2023 Youth Summit programs are:
In-person education sessions will be 50 minutes in length and will be primarily hosted on Saturday. Our planning team will work with you to make sure you have the proper space you need to host a successful workshop. Age range for the Youth Summits are 11-13 please adjust your content and delivery for this age group.
Virtual education sessions will be presented in a virtual format, for 45 minutes, through Zoom. Sessions will primarily be hosted on January 28 with a possibility of additional sessions on January 29. The Youth Summit Planning Team will organize and provide the access to the virtual rooms.
All education sessions should be engaging to youth through a mixture of instruction and hands-on learning experiences.
Workshops should be designed to meet the goals of the conference:
1) Youth will improve personal leadership skills
2) Youth will improve knowledge of career pathways and college
3) Increased networks with 4-H members, adult volunteers and staff outside of their county
We welcome all presenters that are 4-H youth (14 and up), 4-H adult volunteers, 4-H staff, and members of the community.
The California 4-H Youth Summit programs are designed to grow the leadership abilities of intermediate 4-H members (ages 11-13) and give hands-on leadership opportunities to senior 4-H members (ages 14+). Participants are mentored by senior 4-H'ers and caring adult volunteers. Younger members develop strong relationships with their older peers as they both develop their leadership skills.
