Asian Community Development Corporation's (ACDC) Summer Leadership Academy (SLA) 2021 is a six week long youth leadership program that runs from July 6th through August 13th. Participants meet weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:30PM to 4:30PM.
This year's theme is focused on 'The Art of PersuAsian' -- youth will gain an understanding of their Asian identities and experiences, learn about Asian American History, and explore how systemic racism affects the Asian community. Youth will additionally develop skills in building empathy, creative storytelling, critical thinking and analysis, and collaboration. Currently, our programming structure is a combination of collaborative learning and project based work. Youth will spend time expanding their understanding and knowledge of Asian communities and experiences, and will work on short-term, weekly projects.
Applications open on Monday, May 17th and close Sunday, July 4th at 11:59PM. Applications will be followed by a short phone check-in with staff! Youth who are High School aged students in the Greater Boston Area (including rising freshman and those graduating in 2021), are also eligible to apply.
