Invitation
We are inviting you to complete this survey because you are a road time trial cyclist, duathlon, or triathlon athlete.

Objectives and Summary
As fourth-year undergraduate design students from the School of Industrial Design at Carleton University, we are conducting research as part of our Capstone Project course to explore problems and opportunities for new design solutions by gaining an understanding people and their environments.  This allows us to learn about the needs, motivations, and behaviours that help define the products, systems, services, and experiences that we design.

We estimate that the survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.  Your participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you may choose not to take part or not to answer any of the questions.  You may withdraw from the study at any time before submitting your responses by closing the survey browser.  No data will be collected unless the completed survey is submitted.  Once your responses have been submitted at the end, you will be unable to withdraw them; however, all responses are anonymous and no personal identifying information, including IP addresses, will be connected to the data.

The results of this study will be shared publicly with industry partners, faculty, technicians, and community experts throughout the school year to elicit feedback as part of the design process.  At the end of the school year (April 2022), we will be presenting our final work including the research results at the Annual Industrial Design Graduation Exhibition as well as other potential venues such as conferences, competitions, and various online publication outlets (e.g. personal websites, partner websites, social media, etc.).

Risks and Benefits
We do not anticipate any risks from taking this survey, nor do we anticipate that you will derive any direct benefit.  No compensation is provided for participating.  However, your participation may allow us to better understand how we can contribute to a better world with new design solutions and possibly inspire future developments to benefit the broader community.

Data Storage and Security
This survey is built on the Google Form platform.  Your anonymized data will be stored and protected by Google in their global server network but may be disclosed via a court order or data breach.

Data Retention
After the study is completed, your anonymized data may be retained for future research and development use.
