The New Jim Crow Book Study and Discussion
The New Jim Crow is a stunning account of the rebirth of a caste-like system in the United States, one that has resulted in millions of African Americans locked behind bars and then relegated to a permanent second-class status—denied every right supposedly won in the Civil Rights Movement. Mass incarceration and the SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE are closely related. The underlying philosophy behind mass incarceration has infiltrated into schools. Mass incarceration harms communities in a way that puts students at risk of entering the SCHOOL-TO PRISON-PIPELINE.
At the conclusion of this book study and discussion, there will be a Call to Action to implement solutions and strategies to end mass incarceration and shut down the SCHOOL-TO-PRISON PIPELINE.
