A Little Book of Brigid
A Little Book of Brigid is a collection of 28 illustrated poems, curated and published by Blueway Art Studio and funded by Brigid 15oo & Kildare Co Co. Merging two of St. Brigid’s patronages’ (poetry & printers), Blueway Art Studio produced A Little Book of Brigid to celebrate Brigid as the female force in ordinary lives, in our past and living present, created using texts selected from an Open Call in 2023. The book is entirely handprinted through letterpress and screenprinting. Each letter is composed upside down and backwards and set by hand using vintage metal type. Each poem or verse is accompanied by hand-drawn illustrations which have been made into silk screens and printed individually on Madrid Litho paper with Lascaux Gouache.
The purpose of the project is acknowledge women throughout 2024 whilst marking 1500 years since the death of St Brigid of Kildare. The books will be gifted to 100 inspiring women or institutions who have campaigned for women's rights or support women in their communities.
We are now taking nominations for recipients of the 100 copies of A Little Book of Brigid, open until August 2024. Please fill in the below if you wish to nominate someone and consider the following criteria. 
  1. You may wish to consider if the person you are nominating has an appreciation for the arts and will enjoy this gift of 28 illustrated poems. 
  2. You must tell us HOW this woman or entity supports women in your community and WHY they are an inspiration to your communities.  
  3. The books will be gifted to women alive and still working within/for their communities/fields. This was never intended as a commemorative project for families of inspirational women who have passed away. 
  4. Please note a nomination does not guarantee a book, the nominations will be collated and reviewed by Blueway Art Studio and a panel of advisors. We intend to release the books in a number of small batches throughout 2024.
