Level 1 - 
·  Read and understand notes of the treble and bass clef ·  Read and clap simple rhythms  ·  Recognise and understand the meaning of symbols such as time signatures, key signatures, bar lines, dynamic markings, repeat signs, and popular Italian terms ·  Pitch different intervals given a common tonic ·  Sing simple written melodies (sight-singing). 
Level 2 - 
·  Interval recognition - Identifying pitch distance visually and pitching accurately given different tonics ·  Key signature identification -  Identifying the major/minor options, finding the tonic, identifying the beginning scale degree ·  Scale degree analysis - mapping out the melody using numbers ·  Pitching and singing various written melodies (sight-singing).
