Please fill in this form with your interest to serve as an AWIS-CAC Executive Board Member for the 2024-26 term. You are encouraged to record a primary position of interest and secondary position of interest. Your response gives AWIS-CAC permission to share this information with voting members of AWIS-CAC during the election. Section 1. The President shall coordinate the business of the chapter, call and preside at all chapter and EB meetings, prepare business meeting agendas, serve as an ex officio member of all committees, designate representatives of AWIS-CAC to other organizations or events, prepare and present the yearly chapter status report at the Annual Chapter Meeting (see Article III), perform other duties incident to the office as required by the Constitution and Bylaws, or by the EB, and represent or designate a representative of AWIS-CAC at national meetings when such attendance is authorized by the EB.
Section 2. The Vice President for Communications shall assume primary responsibility for recording the activities of the EB and the chapter, preparing minutes of EB meetings, preparing other reports and newsletters as requested by AWIS, and updating the chapter website routinely. The Vice President for Communications shall also assume primary responsibility for publicizing all meetings and events of the chapter by any means available to chapter members.
Section 3. The Vice President for Membership shall assume primary responsibility for managing the list of members of our chapter to include information about member preferences for chapter engagement, publishing a chapter membership directory, leading and conducting a yearly membership outreach campaign, securing new partnerships to grow chapter membership, and acting as liaison for any membership-related interactions with Chapter members, AWIS National, and any outside parties. The VP of Membership will work closely with VP for Programs and Outreach to ensure member engagement and satisfaction with chapter programming.
Section 4. The Vice President for Finance and Fundraising shall assume primary responsibility for conducting the financial business of AWIS-CAC, including bank transactions, tax issues, and preparing financial statements annually, or at the request of the EB. The VP of Finance and Fundraising shall also assume primary responsibility for raising funds for the chapter, securing sponsorships and in-kind donations.
Section 5. The Vice President for Programs and Outreach shall assume primary responsibility for coordinating the delivery of program activities for the chapter (e.g. annual awards event, panel discussions and webinars, Scientist-of-the-Month and podcast series, and other special programs).
Descriptions of Sub-Committees:
We are reintroducing subcommittees! Volunteers on AWIS-CAC subcommittees will assist the VP of Programs and Outreach and the VP of Finance and Fundraising. The time-commitment for subcommittees is less than executive board positions and the frequency/timing of subcommittee meetings will be decided after election winners are announced. These positions are not elected.
Programs & Outreach Committee
Volunteers on this committee will assist the VP of Programs and Outreach with planning a variety of events for the chapter, in addition to helping coordinate the Scientist of the Month series and Innovators & Motivator Podcast series.
Finance & Fundraising Committee
Volunteers on this committee will assist the VP of Finance and Fundraising in helping to raise funds for the chapter, securing sponsorships, and writing grants.
