Join in our celebration of pollinators by volunteering for a butterfly count at NORTH COLLIER REGIONAL PARK on Saturday, November 19th , 9:30am.
Please note that this count will be only at North Collier, due to Hurricane IAN, our other gardens/parks are still in recovery mode. As this is our first time counting after a Hurricane it will be interesting and important to collect information about the abundance and diversity of butterflies.
We will compare this data to last years Fall walk. These citizen science surveys are a fun way to get to know the Parks and the butterflies!
Nearly 30 species of butterflies have been observed during previous counts. Both number of individuals and different species will be recorded.
Volunteers ages 16 and up are invited to participate. Individuals with previous experience participating in one of these butterfly counts will serve as group leads.
Newcomers are encouraged no previous experience is required; training will be provided.
Your participation will help expand our understanding of the abundance and diversity of butterflies in our beloved Parks!
