Waawiyaataanong Forever is a photography and postcard project focusing on the representation of women and two-spirit folks and their families in this community. The project will culminate in an exhibition of the photographs and a celebration at Art Windsor-Essex (AWE). We are looking for community members to present themselves alongside street signs (Munsee Street, Tecumseh Street, Iroquois Street…) in Windsor that bear their nation's name.
This project, in partnership with AWE, was developed by a committee of community members and is an Indigenous-led project. So let’s have your portrait taken by an Indigenous/woman/two-spirit-led production team!
This project is open to First Nations, Métis and Inuit community members. In regalia or street fashion, we want you to represent how you want to be seen. Each participant will receive a $200 honorarium. We will ask you to share who you are, where you are from and why representation matters to you.
Please let us know if you would like to participate by sharing your contact information in the form. Spaces are limited; we will schedule folks to illustrate as many site locations as possible.
