Mission
A/P/A BRIDGE was created by Asian/Pacific/American (A/P/A) student leaders through the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU (apa.nyu.edu) in 2011 to cultivate “Asian/Pacific/American” as a political identity, by doing the following:

-COMMUNITY BUILDING: Building intentional community by exploring the complexities and diversity of A/P/A as both a political and cultural identity

-EDUCATION & DIALOGUE: Fostering open dialogue around race, culture, identity, and activism in efforts to educate ourselves and our communities

-LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: Developing leadership skills and making connections with NYU and NYC organizations to work towards social change

Program Timeline & Commitments
1) APPLY: Applications are due Sunday, September 18, 2022 by 11:59 p.m. Interviews, if needed, will take place the following week and decision notifications will be sent by Friday, September 23.

2) COMMIT: A/P/A BRIDGE will meet weekly during the academic year. Participation in these weekly meetings is mandatory. Meetings will be held in-person at the A/P/A Institute at 20 Cooper Square, third floor (day and time TBD depending on group's schedule). During these sessions, participants will learn about and discuss various A/P/A issues, and develop community organizing, facilitation, and leadership skills. The group will also go on field trips and meet with guest speakers virtually and/or in person.

Additionally, members must be available for a mandatory in-person orientation and leadership retreat at the A/P/A Institute from Saturday, October 8-Sunday, October 9, 2022. All meals will be provided. Due to COVID restrictions, this is not an overnight retreat.

A/P/A BRIDGE members are also required to attend at least two A/P/A Institute events per semester (see apa.nyu.edu/events for programs, which will be hosted virtually and in person).

By submitting an application, you commit to participating in A/P/A BRIDGE for the duration of the program (October 2022-May 2023) if selected.
