This internship program is provided by The SPARK Initiative which is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization located in Hillsborough County, FL. During the summer of 2024, we are offering this internship experience for High School aged community members with continuous volunteer opportunities during the remainder of the year. Please read ALL the information about this internship experience below.
Are you in high school and want to make a positive impact in the community? If so, this summer is your chance to join a unique opportunity to work closely with nonprofit professionals, explore the power of your mind and creative potential, while engaging with the community to create positive change. SPARK provides leadership training and education with opportunities for hands-on experience in mental health, education, mentoring and criminal justice systems.
The SPARK Initiative is hosting a
National Wellbeing & Resilience Conference on October 9th-11th. This internship experience will be project based around this event along with other organizational projects within our community programs.
Interns will be paid a monthly stipend for attendance and completion of tasks during the summer. The pay ranges from $100-$300 and payment depends on the completion of tasks interns are asked to do. You will NOT receive payment if you do not complete the mandatory meetings/trainings.
Mandatory Meeting Dates:
These meetings are mandatory for training and learning purposes. Be completely sure you can attend these dates before you commit to this internship program. This experience is a JOB and our expectations are for each intern to make it a priority to attend mandatory dates, be engaged/motivated, complete projects/tasks, and have clear communication with the SPARK Initiative. If interns cannot commit to these guidelines, you will no longer be eligible for the position in this internship.
Meeting Dates:
- June 25th - Orientation/Foundation Training 10am-5pm
- July 10th - Group Meeting
- July 24th - Group Meeting
- August 2nd - End of Summer Internship
Prerequisites:
- Between grades 9th-12th
- Live in Hillsborough County
- Can drive or have reliable transportation to our location
- Interested in creating positive change in the community and being a leader
- Able to produce creative work related to your skill and interest
- Can attend in person and virtual projects
- Can commit to full attendance
- Are pro-active, engaged and committed to action
- Have specific skills in programming, community events, or creative expression (see examples below)
