The AGATP will run from February 28 – May 9, 2023 for
10 – Weeks on Tuesdays from 3:05 – 5:05 p.m. The dates of the workshop are February: 28, March: 7, 14, 21, 28; April: 4, 18, 25, May 2nd, and May 9, there will be a Presentation at 7:00 p.m.
The program is designed for students in grades 3 -6, but older students may also enroll.
The Acting & Improv program is an introductory program, with the intention of familiarizing students to the concept of performing. Students will have fun learning how to bring a story to life through acting exercises and performance techniques. Final presentation, students can either develop and write their own original play or use a scripted play or a short story to explore and rehearse. Scripted materials used for this program will be determined by the Teaching Artists based on the number of students participating, interest level and their own motivation for being involved in the program.
The Behind The Scenes workshop is a tutorial demonstration of theatre production roles (i.e. Director, Stage Manager, Choreographer, Costumes, Makeup, Props, Scenic Design and Stage Craft). A lot of work goes into creating a theatrical performance and producing theatre requires a creative team. Understanding the individual roles help performers comprehend their importance in a production and how they are too work with these individual roles as they come into perspective of the timeline of putting up a performance. This workshop will correlate with the students final production; workshop the building of necessary props, costumes and thematic needs to conclude the process that the students are working towards to come to a final presentation.
Some programs, visit the Algonquin Theatre in Manasquan, NJ to experience the Behind the Scenes workshop. If we arrange this, we may need volunteers to help drive!
The cost for this ten-week program will vary based on how many students enroll. We can enroll up to 20 students:
20 students = $90 per student
15 students = $117 per student
12 students = $145 per student
10 students = $175 per student
Please register by January 11th so we can get a proper headcount. If you register, please realize that you will not know the final cost of the program until mid-January.
