Summer 2024 Free Bridges & Literacy Classes: Pre-Registration
Please complete the pre-registration form below. Note the following:

*In order to participate in Literacy or  Bridges classes, you must select a date for placement testing. Students who do not take the placement test are not eligible for classes. 
*Students must be at least 17 years older 
*Classes are not appropriate for students enrolled in or planning to enroll in high school
*Au Pairs: Per ICCB (Illinois Community College Board) regulations, au pairs are required to take post-secondary classes and cannot enroll in Oakton's free Reading or ESL classes. They may however enroll in the program's low-cost tuition classes: ESL Supplemental Classes
*Literacy/Bridges classes are not intended for for tourists,  but rather for those who have come to live in the United States.

Literacy classes are for native and non-native speakers of English who wish to improve their reading, writing or math skills. Lead teachers direct trained tutors to help students develop these skills. Note: Literacy students may not enroll in Bridges classes.
Online Literacy Classes:

In-person Literacy classes will be held at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Elllinwood St.; the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton St.; and the Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Ln. 
In-person Literacy Classes:

Bridges classes are for adults whose native language is not English and who speak at an intermediate level of English. Classes focus on developing reading and writing skills necessary to pursue GED/HSE or college classes. Note: Bridges students may not enroll in Literacy classes.
