---

SoundBio Lab seeks a Promotional Content Creator to design graphics to promote our events digitally and in print.

Responsibilities
  • Design promotional images and flyers for all SoundBio Lab events and programs. Create new flyers, update existing flyers with new dates and times, and redesign flyers as needed in accordance with our social media policy and style guidelines. Produce flyers in both digital and print form factors. Place finished images in an accessible folder within our Google Drive (access will be granted after onboarding).

  • Design and distribute print media. Create new print flyers, posters, and cards to promote SoundBio Lab services and opportunities. Distribute print media in the U District and throughout Seattle, focusing on high schools and community centers.

Commitment

Approximately 10 hours per month. All work can be done remotely.

Will attend monthly meetings of the Education & Outreach committee at least every other month to ensure that you are well informed on relevant activities in the organization and that you are well connected with other volunteers.

Will work with other members of the event promotion and outreach team. In most cases roles will be well defined enough that each member can work independently but open lines of communication will allow for clarifications and consistency in the information we deliver to our potential clients.

Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for our mission and a genuine interest in science communication.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Skills in graphic design, branding, and marketing or interest in developing them.

  • Familiarity with Canva is a plus.

Who should apply?
We understand that part of how inequality is perpetuated in STEM is the lack of opportunities for education and career development provided to marginalized groups — including people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ people, women, and people from working-class backgrounds. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities and members of other marginalized communities.
