Help your child find page 11 in their handbook. Explain that the word Pope is like the English word Papa. In fact, the Pope is also called the Holy Father. So Pope and Holy Father are different names for the same person - the leader of the great church family that meets every week in Catholic parishes throughout the world.
Direct your child to complete the broken lines of the images on the page. (This will reveal three churches.) Explain that these churches show that the Pope is the leader of all the Catholic Churches in the world. *
This week's word of the week is "parish." Please share this definition with them: A parish is our church family that gathers for Mass and prayer. Explain to them that the pope is the leader is all parishes in the world, including ours!
