Lockdown restrictions may have eased but 1 in 4 households are struggling to make ends meet with more than 15 million people (in the UK) now living in poverty.
As a direct consequence, due to an increase in living costs, a of loss of income and jobs - many struggle to afford the food they need.
In 16 months we have experienced a 1471% increase in demand for our services - supporting over 1,100 local residents in the process.
Help us continue our work post lockdown.
We need volunteers who can help with the following:
Food Collections - Collecting surplus food from our suppliers and dropping this off at one our locations.
Food Deliveries - Delivering meals directly to people's doors *must have a valid DBS*
Donation Sorting - Sorting donations of food and goods into care packages.
Kitchen assistant - Helping our chefs to cook and prepare meals.
Telephone befriending - *must have a valid DBS*
Walking Buddies - We're looking for ‘walking buddies’ - to offer care and support to persons who are vulnerable as the lockdown eases and they are able to go back outside again. *must have a valid DBS*
Donation finders - we need people to keep an eye out on food sharing platforms and apps such as Olio to help us source donations of food and toiletries. This can be done from home.
We welcome students doing their DofE placements!
