KICL expects the following kinds of students
a. Those planning to study at a graduate school, undergraduate, or vocational school in Japan Note: To study at graduate school in Japan, it is necessary to have a bachelor’s degree in the same major they want to apply for
b. Those who need high Japanese proficiency for their job
c. Those who strongly hope to learn Japanese language to gain a broad understanding of Japanese culture

Requirements for applying to KICL
a. In the case of those who have a master’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or an associate degree
*If an applicant has graduated from school more than 5 years ago, their application might be declined depending on their reasons for studying
Note: If an applicant left school without a diploma, their highest school is considered to be high school

b. In the case of those whose highest level of education is high school or a foundation course for undergraduate study,
1) Only those who graduated from school within the last 1 year are eligible
*The application might be declined depending on the high school transcript.
2) Even for those who do not meet the above requirement, we might still accept the application in the case that the applicant has consistent reasons of studying, the background, and the plan after studying Japanese (e.g. Those who currently work for a Japanese company and are required to improve their Japanese skill).

c.  Meet any of the following criteria for Japanese proficiency.
JLPT: N5 or above
J-TEST: F level or above / higher than 250 points on the EF level
NAT-TEST: Level 5 or above

d. Prove ability to pay their study abroad expenses through public documents
e. Study abroad plans dependent on part-time job income will not be accepted
f. Those who do not have unclear backgrounds
