MENTOR AND PARENT GUIDELINES
The Mentors will set a positive and challenging tone for the golf program. If the Mentor and Parent expectations are high, the athletes’ expectations will also be high.
All adults interested in becoming a Mentor for the LHJGP must participate in the weekly golf lessons and play.
As a Mentor, you will be expected to:
•
Attend monthly meetings.
•
Assist in the development of skills, attitudes, character and discipline of Jr. Golfer
•
Ensure that the policies and procedures of the LHJGP are adhered to.
•
Evaluate the performance of the Junior Golfer.
As a Parent you will be expected to:
•
Attend monthly meetings with your child(ren).
•
Encourage your child(ren) by attending as many events as possible to support them.
•
Teach your child(ren) the importance of being both on time and prepared to participate in events.
•
Ensure that your child gets proper rest and nourishment before events and tournaments.
•
Display a positive, professional and courteous attitude.
•
Use appropriate language.
•
Refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages while in the presence of Junior Golfers.
•
Communicate with the Transportation Coordinator if your child (ren) will not be riding with the LHJGP to avoid $25 penalty. (See TRANSPORTION section for additional information.)
The following expectations are for the Mentors and Parents:
•
Settle all disputes and conflicts in a professional manner; teaching the Junior Golfer how to settle differences through talking and communicating clearly, without letting emotions get out of control with a follow up report to the President.
•
Be a positive role model for the entire golf family.
•
Display a positive, professional and courteous attitude.
•
Use appropriate language.
•
Reinforce good sportsmanship by encouraging others to be their best.
