Discussion Session | MLK Day of Service

Did you know that MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service in the USA? 

Part of King's legacy is his call to work together for a better tomorrow.

On January 23, join us to find out why MLK Day is about service. 

Guided by Violeta Talandis, Foreign Service Officer, you will learn how the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was transformed into a day of community service, encouraging all Americans to volunteer and help solve social problems.

*  Violeta is the Regional Engagement Public Specialist covering Ukraine, Romania, and Moldova (REPS). She has a Master's in Social Work from the University of Michigan, from which she received a Fulbright scholarship to study in Lithuania. She speaks Russian, Armenian, and Lithuanian.
