Grade 7 Term 3 Option A
This is the form you will be using to tell us which options you are the most interested in.  Make sure you are only picking one option from each list starting with your first choice.  Do not choose the same option more than once or your name will be placed at the end of the list.  Also, try to not choose an option you took during Term 3 as you are not permitted to take the same option twice unless your current option teacher has instructed you to do so.

Review the options and their descriptions below before making your choices.
Foods/Fashions (Miss Toeckes) - Introduction to safety and sanitation while  working in a kitchen. Focus will be on use of equipment, measuring accurately and following a written recipe.  Next Level - Learn how to work safely in the sewing room, practice your independence by threading your machine and troubleshooting minor problems. Improve your sewing skills while making a small project - wheat bag and cover. Blanketing stitching has made a come back; learn how to sew this stitch and use it on a mini project.

Construction (Mr. Jacobson) - Students can expect to begin the year working on drafting, sketching, measuring, designing, safety, wood technology, woodworking tools and processes. Students will focus on simple woodworking projects that focus on skill development.

Band (Mrs. McLaren) - Please select this option if you are CURRENTLY in band and plan to continue into term 3. You cannot join band for the first time this term.

Art (Mrs. Keys) - In this course, students will be introduced to a variety of painting and printmaking techniques. Students will experiment with watercolours, acrylic paints and printing inks to create multi-step projects. Students will be able to use tools like paint brushes, brayers, mixing trays, styrofoam and printing blocks to achieve proficiency in the techniques and skills taught in class.

Learning Opportunities (Ms Tonery) - In this option students can expect to practice their math and science skills in the format of games and activities, working on building a growth mindset. In this class, students will have an opportunity to stay caught up on their work and receive teacher assistance on classroom assignments.  

Leadership (Mr. Naicker) - Leadership 7 is a class designed to help students learn more about and strengthen the qualities they possess that make a great leader. We will play games and incorporate leadership skills into different activities. Students will create a goal that they will work towards accomplishing for the term.

Drama (Ms Nokes) - In this class students will continue to refine their dramatic skills to perform more sophisticated work. Students will use various creative drama techniques to  build ensemble, stimulate imagination, movement and role play with an emphasis on concentration. Students will be taught to direct their focus, intent, and motivation to create and sustain character. Students will address plot, setting and character in monologues.

Crochet (Miss Korpova) - In this option students will learn and practice several basic crochet stitches, and complete simple projects like a class quilt, a hat and a possible choice project. This is a complete beginner course, but students with previous knowledge are all welcome.

STEM (Mrs. Loshny) - STEM is an abbreviation for four connected areas of study: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. In this class, you will have an opportunity to use your imagination and creativity to design and engeneer various projects with commonly available materials.
