LCES School/Parent Compact 2023-2024
Lauderdale County Elementary School faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help students achieve the State high standards.

This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2023-2024 school year.

Lauderdale County Elementary School will:

1.  Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State's academic achievement standards as follows:

✔Teachers are provided high quality professional development for evidenced-based programs along with teaching/learning methods and strategies that will help students academic achievement.  Evaluation of students performance will be ongoing in order to implement individualized instruction to help students meet the State's academic standards.  A positive and motivational environment will be evident throughout our school.

2.  Hold parent-teacher conferences by appointment during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child's achievement.  Specifically those conferences will be held:

3.  Provide parents with frequent reports on their children's progress.  Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:

✔Progress Reports will be sent home every four weeks.  Report cards will be sent home every nine weeks. Grades may also be viewed online via the Powerschool Portal with a parent password given from the school. Phone calls and emails will be made when warranted.

4.  Provide parents reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:  

✔Teachers will be available for consultation during their planning time.  Appointments must be made through the school office at (256) 247-3414.  Teachers are also available via email using the following format:  firstname.lastname@lcschools.org (ex.  Mrs. Reba Reader's email would be reba.reader@lcschools.org). 5.  Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child's class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:  

✔Parents are encouraged to attend and participate in parent meetings and activities held at various times throughout a normal school year.  Teachers will participate in professional development opportunities that improve teaching, learning, and support the information of partnerships with families and community.

6.  Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff, and, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.

✔An LCES Blackboard messaging system is in place to alert parents of school functions and activities on the school website www.lcschools.org/lces.  Teachers will also use email, Schoology, and/or the Remind app to communicate the curriculum for the week.   Parents are encouraged to communicate any suggestions, comments, or complaints at anytime.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities:

We, as parents/guardians, will support our student's learning in the following ways:

✔We, as parent/guardians will monitor attendance, make sure homework is completed, and participate in decisions relating to our child's education.  We will also be diligent in staying informed about our child's education by checking backpacks for notices sent from school, reading all notices from school, and responding appropriately and in a timely manner.

Student Responsibilities:

✔Pre-K-Kindergarten:  Work hard to do my best everyday and learn as much as I can.
✔1st-6th Grade:  Complete my homework everyday and ask for help when needed.  I will read at least 15 minutes daily outside of school.  I will give my parents all notices and information received by me from school everyday.  I will do my best to achieve the goals I set for myself.
