The Learning Cohort invites young curious learners who love to read, ask questions, and look for answers to join a cohort of like-minded peers and mentors. We offer virtual classes in Russian and English languages. Please fill out the interest form and we'll send you the confirmation letter with all details. Our teachers:
Natalia Black graduated from the State Pedagogical University in Moscow and the New School in New York. She has been working as a teacher, translator and a screenwriter. Natalia has been teaching Russian Language, Literature, and Culture for twenty years. Native Russian speaker, fluent in English.

Dina Black has been working as a reading specialist, teacher assistant and curriculum developer. She is an avid reader and a talented writer. Native English speaker, fluent in Russian.

Elena Volkova graduated from the State Pedagogical University in Moscow with double major (Biology and English). Talented and creative educator, she has been teaching students to read and write without pain and tears for forty years. She was the first teacher in Russia who implemented US-Russian educational learning exchange and communication programs. Native Russian speaker, fluent in English.

Jolie Black, a student at Brandeis University, has been working as a ELA teacher, writing tutor, coach, interpreter, researcher and teaching assistant for four years. Former homeschooler and early HS graduate, now she is a student at Brandeis University, conducting research and taking graduate level classes. Native English speaker, fluent in Russian.

Found in Translation Advanced (age 12-14 years) Новый курс для тех, кто участвовал в курсе Found in Translation I, а также для тех, кому интересно читать по-русски и по-английски. На занятиях мы будем анализировать известные и малоизвестные переводы. Участники смогут предлагать темы и тексты для обсуждения.  Будем задавать интересные вопросы, решать лингвистические задачи, сочинять и переводить. Занятия проводятся раз в неделю. Курс преподаётся на русском языке. Преподаватель - Наталия Блэк. The new course for those who completed Found in Translation I, and for those who love to read in Russian and English. We’ll analyze famous and forgotten translations. Learners will be able to analyze topics and texts for discussion. We’ll ask and answer tricky questions, solve linguistic problems, write, and translate. Prerequisite: Found in Translation I or the interview. The class is taught in Russian Language. Instructor - Natalia Black. Wednesday 10:00AM-10:50 AM EST or Friday 10:AM-10:50 AM EST. January-June module - $$350 (if you join later, we'll prorate tuition)
Found in Translation I (age 10-13 years) Курс для детей, читающих по-русски и по-английски. На занятиях мы будем говорить об искусстве и науке перевода, находить ошибки у известных переводчиков, сравнивать разные переводы, узнаем, почему точный перевод может исказить смысл, а неточный - прояснить. Занятия проводятся раз в неделю. Специальной подготовки не требуется. Курс преподаётся на русском языке. Преподаватель - Наталия Блэк. This class is designed for learners, who can read in Russian and English. We are going to discuss the art and science aspects of translation, compare translations of familiar books, and find translators’ mistakes. We’ll find out how a correct translation can ruin the meaning, while the wrong translation clarifies it. The class is taught in Russian Language. The class meets once a week. English Language and Literature Club (age 6-10) for English speakers. Reading is not an assignment, it is not a class, and it is not a chore. Reading is your way of exploring the world. Let's read together and challenge your teacher and peers by asking peculiar questions. Class meets once a week. Instructor - Dina Black. Tuition: $200 for February - June module (tuition can be pro-rated if you join later)
Читать легко (5 лет и старше) Программа для семей, в которых дети учатся читать по-русски. Во время занятий ребёнок будет учиться читать вместе с преподавателем и соучениками, а в свободное время читать — сначала вместе с родителями, потом самостоятельно. Занятия проводятся на русском языке, два раза в неделю по 30 минут. Группа не больше шести человек.
