GENE, in cooperation with CONCORD Europe, is delighted to invite civil society organisations, with expertise in Global Education, to join the process towards a new European Declaration on Global Education to 2050. Together with international organisations, local authorities, youth organisations and other partners, GENE hopes to create a new momentum for strengthening the commitment to and funding for Global Education in Europe.
GENE recognises and appreciates the existing work of international and national civil society organisations with expertise in Global Education and invites such organisations  to cooperate with GENE on the new European Declaration on Global Education to 2050.  Civil society organisations with expertise in Global Education, including national platforms, umbrella networks and GE-specialised international and national NGDOs are welcome to apply or nominate members to participate in the process of developing a new European Declaration on Global Education 2050. The process will involve a series of meetings and dialogue events and will be co-created and defined jointly with participating organisations.
GENE uses the Maastricht definition of Global Education (2002): “Global Education is education that opens people’s eyes and minds to the realities of the world, and awakens them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and human rights for all. GE is understood to encompass Development Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainability, Education for Peace and Conflict Prevention and Intercultural Education; being the global dimensions of Education for Citizenship.” While using the umbrella term Global Education, GENE also welcomes the use of specific national terms.
