Utah Trans Pride Planning Committee Interest Sign-Up 2024
This application is for anyone who’s interested in joining the Planning Committee for the Utah Trans Pride Festival! Please note that filling out this form is NOT a commitment, you can decide later if you actually want to be on the planning committee. We will have a meeting on Saturday, January 27th at 1pm to go over the event and what volunteer committee positions entail. After this meeting, you decide if you'd like to be on the planning committee. Not being able to attend the meeting doesn't mean you can't join us, but we strongly encourage you to attend! Most future meetings will be done via zoom, and a lot of work can be done virtually. However we'll need a lot of in-person help on the day of the festival; August 10th, 2024 in Utah County.

The planning committee will consist of department leads and assistants. Only leads are expected to attend meetings. Workloads depend on the department and number of assistants. Remember, many hands make light work! We will also work with the availability of the volunteers. Committee members will communicate mostly through the Slack app and email. Minors are allowed to volunteer, but will need parental permission.

The Utah Trans Pride Festival is a unique event put on by Genderbands that celebrates and brings visibility to our amazingly diverse transgender community. Whether in person or virtual, Utah Trans Pride is a safe place to gather, share our talents, and soak up the love and support of the community and allies. Utah Trans Pride features trans and non-binary vendors, entertainers, and resources; putting our trans family front and center. All too often the T is forgotten or an after-thought in LGBT events. Here the T is spotlighted because Trans is beautiful!

Background checks will be required for any person on the planning committee with access to emails or other accounts. This will mostly be leads. It won't be needed before our initial meeting on Saturday, January 27th at 1pm. Volunteers for just the event won't necessarily need a background check. (Only people with access to Genderbands' accounts or money need background checks.) A background check is $30 and we ask that the volunteer cover this fee. Once you do 20 hours of volunteering your $30 will be refunded. If you are unable to pay for the background check but wish to volunteer, please let us know in the comment section at the end so we can work around it.

While this is an event in Utah, out-of-state volunteers are welcome as meetings and many of the tasks needed are virtual. We encourage all to volunteer, no matter their gender identity.
