City of McFarland 2023 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

Welcome and thank you for participating in this public survey!

This survey will help inform development of the City of McFarland's Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) 2023 update.  Hazard mitigation is the use of sustained, long-term actions to reduce the loss of life, personal injury, and property damage that can result from a disaster. Benefits of mitigation planning include:
  • Identifying actions for risk reduction that are agreed upon by stakeholders and the public;
  • Focusing resources on the greatest risks and vulnerabilities;
  • Building partnerships by involving citizens, organizations, and businesses;
  • Increasing education and awareness of threats and hazards, as well as their risks;
  • Communicating priorities to State and Federal officials; and
  • Aligning risk reduction with other community objectives.
This questionnaire is designed to obtain your opinion about hazards and safety concerns in the area and what types of mitigation measures should be carried out by the city. The information you provide will help us identify policies and coordinate projects focused on reducing the risk of injury or damage to property from hazard events (e.g. earthquakes, wildfire, high heat).

The survey should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and is anonymous. Please provide your email if you would like to be entered into a drawing for a gift card towards a home mitigation use item!
