About the tutors:
The idea behind the Math Lab comes from Jonathan and Lara Dick. Jonathan has been teaching secondary Maths for 18 years with a focus on Algebra, Geometry and Calculus. Although taking a year off to be in Cyprus, he teaches maths in the small town of Milton, Pennsylvania, USA where he also coaches running, but don't worry: he won't ask you to "do a lap" around the track during Math Lab! Although tough to choose from so many great mathematical ideas through the years, his favorite math proof definitely belongs to Archimedes' when he wrote about the area of a circle.
Dr. Lara Dick is a maths professor at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, USA and is spending the year in Cyprus working with the Pedagogical Institute to provide trainings for secondary maths teachers. Lara enjoys teaching maths and working with future maths teachers. She studies students' maths thinking and is prepared to help you think carefully about the maths you are learning. Her favorite maths subject to teach is probably statistics with calculus being a close second.
