On October 6th, graduate, undergraduate, medical and law students across the country will be protesting attacks on transgender rights and on access to abortion. We are joining over 45 other schools in 25 states participating in this
Day of Action, including University of Texas - Austin, MIT, University of Florida, Stanford University, University of Missouri, Harvard Law School, University of Arkansas, and many more in blue and red states alike. This event is being coordinated by the
Graduate Student Action Network (GSAN,
@GradAction) in collaboration with the Young Democratic Socialists of America (
YDSA).
On October 6, the Caltech Graduate Student Council and the Socialists of Caltech invite you to attend a student-led rally at Beckman Mall from 12-2pm with student and guest speakers who will talk about CA laws relevant to issues of bodily autonomy (abortion and gender-affirming care), and about how barriers to accessing these services impact Black and Indigenous people of color, international students, people from low-income backgrounds, disabled folks, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Please show your support by committing to attend our campus rally. Fill out the form below to ensure that you will get future communications with more information about this event.
- Please walk out of your lab, office, or classroom with us ten minutes before the rally to show support for our demands and protest the current lack of federal protections for abortion access and freedom of gender expression.
- Please share an anonymous testimonial about your experience accessing abortion, being a student/postdoc parent, or being a transgender or nonbinary person at Caltech to help us craft a petition demanding better protection of students' reproductive rights and freedom of gender expression.
