Creative Futures: Empowering Teen Artists (Application Form)

The deadline to submit your application is 7 June 2024.

About: Calling teen artists! Are you ready to ignite your creative potential? Join us for a transformative year-long program just for you! Through a series of monthly workshops, gain invaluable insights into the art world, build a creative portfolio, write your own artist statement, document your artwork and explore different methods of artmaking. This program culminates with the opportunity to curate a group exhibition of the cohort’s work in spring 2025. Don’t miss this chance to fuel your artistic journey and become a leader in tomorrow’s creative landscape! Co-facilitated by Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre and the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, this program empowers a small cohort of creative teens to explore their artistic passions and develop the skills needed for successful futures in the arts.

Dates: Workshops take place approximately the last Saturday of each month, September 2024–May 2025, 1–3 pm.

Application Overview and Guidelines: TCCL, Modern Fuel, and Agnes are fully wheelchair accessible. Accessibility accommodations for submissions are available if needed. Please email AEACpa@queensu.ca if you require accommodation.

The selection committee will consist of one representative from each of the presenting organizations. Your application information is confidential and will only be accessed by the selection committee. Please note that you are able to give your chosen name, if it is different from your legal name. We value diversity in our participants and community, encouraging applications from all qualified individuals. While recognizing that the identity of each person is fundamentally plural, multidimensional, changing and evolving, we strongly encourage applications from artists who are: Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit), Black, POC, racialized (including recent immigrants), 2SLGBTQQIPAA+, neurodivergent, disabled, living with chronic illness and/or chronic pain. We are strongly committed to supporting a wide range of cultural identities and lived experiences, therefore we encourage applicants to self-identify in their application if they are comfortable doing so.
