Godparent Information
Traditional one male and female godparent is chosen for a child.  One godparent MUST be a practicing Catholic who is at least 16 years of age and has received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.   The second godparent may act as a Christian witness, as long as they have been validly baptized.

Please have your Catholic godparents have a "Letter of Eligibility" sent from their current home, indicating that they are registered parishioners, practicing Catholics, and are qualified to serve as a godparent.  If they are registered parishioners of St Mary Magdalen, they do not need this letter. 

If one of your godparents is of another Christian denomination please have them send a "Letter of Eligibility" from their pastor/minister stating that they are active members of their church.  Please see our website for more on "Letters of Eligibility"

Dates and Time
Baptisms are celebrated the 2nd and 4th weekend of the month, after the 10:30am Sunday Mass.  We schedule families for the following times: 
11:15 am
11:45 am
12:15 pm

Baptism are not traditionally scheduled during Advent.  Baptisms are not permitted to be scheduled during Lent.  

You and your guests should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled baptism time.

Baptism Class 
Attendance at a parish class is required for all parents having a first child Baptized and any parents who have not had a child Baptized within the last four years. These classes are offered every other month but can also be provided outside the set schedule, if needed.  Any additional questions about class can be directed to Sheila Meara, who oversees these classes.  Her contact information can be found on our website in the Baptism Guidelines section.
