東大大学院新領域創成科学研究科（新領域）・メディカル情報生命専攻の入試情報サイトなどのソースコード（ウェブページの情報をプログラミング言語で記述した文書）上で「六四天安門」がキーワードとして一時指定されていたことが分かりました。昨年8月から9月に書き込まれ、3月末に同専攻が削除するまで書き込まれていた可能性があることが東京大学新聞社の調査で判明しています。問題の書き込みは、中国から留学を希望する学生が入試情報にアクセスすることを阻害する目的で行われた疑いがあります。

東京大学新聞社は公益財団法人であると同時に、問題が起こった東大の学生新聞として、東大ひいては日本の大学全体に関わりうる新領域書き込み問題について発信していく責任があると考えています。

It has come to light that the source code of the entrance examination information website for the the Department of Computational Biology and Medical Sciences, the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo, temporarily had included the keyword "六四天安門" or June 4th Tiananmen Square Incident. Investigation by the Todai Shimbun newspaper revealed this keyword was written into the code between August and September of last year and may have remained until the department removed it at the end of March. The problematic keyword is suspected to have been written with the intention of preventing Chinese students from accessing entrance exam information.
