Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) - Canada is excited to embark on Sanatan Dharma Journey for our Bandhus, Bhaginies and our future generations. As Canadian Hindus we all are proud to learn, share, and celebrate our rich culture with the world. 

VHP Canada humbly invites you and your kids to participate in our Aarti Competition as part of Hindu Heritage Month and will continue to January 03, 2024.

Terms and Conditions

Competition Eligibility Criteria

1) Any child within age group of 5-15 years is eligible to enter in this competition

2) Child should have prior permission to their parents before entering into the competition

3) Any child with special needs, please reach out to EVENTS@VHPCANADA.CA for further assistance

4) Any individual or a group may participate

5) Parents can support in background chorus, background mudras or by playing instruments as background music

 

Scope of the Songs/Artis/Shabad/ Mantras

1) The following types of songs/poems are allowed as part of this competition

a. Any Sikh Shabad/Ardas or Gurbani from the Shri Gurugranth Sahab ji or from the Das Guru's vachans in their original format

b. Any Jain Hymns in their original format

c. Any Buddist Hymns or Chantings in their original format

d. Any of the following from the Hindu Scriptures:

i. Original Aartis

ii. Vedic Mantras and Chanting

iii. Shlokas

iv.  Stutis

v. Bhajans of Meera / Kabir/ Tulsidas ji or any other saints

vi. Shri RamcharitManas ji Prasang in any language

vii. Shri Madbhagwat Gita Shlokas in any languages

viii. Krishna Leela

ix. Any other deities Leela/ Stuti or Mantras

x. Any original songs or chants prepared by the child or their family members

xi. Rashtrabhakti Songs

 

2) The following are strictly not allowed in the competition

a. Bollywood songs

b. Bhajans as Bollywood Parodies

c. Any form of insinuating material to Sanaatan Dharma

d. Bhajans in Rap format (unless it is original and not demeaning our culture)

4) Preparation Process

a. Please follow the purification rules as per the Sanaatan Dharma Traditions while preparing or practicing, including:

i. Ensure you are practicing with full devotion to your Ishta/Guru/Deity

ii. Ensure cleanliness

iii. Ensure your light a lamp before practicing

iv. Ensure you perform in front of your Ishta/Guru/Deity

v. If you are a beginner, ensure you learn it thoroughly with your Guru

vi. A Guru can by anyone, your parents, music teacher or even your siblings who can motivate and guide you in the right direction

vii. Ensure pronunciation is correct

viii. Ensure You understand the meaning of the chosen chant/aarti

b. For Parents : Please make sure that kids must enjoy the preparation process and learn about our rich culture while working on their assignment. We are using this as an opportunity to initiate our real heritage in our future generations.

 

5) Submission Guidelines

a. The final submission needs to be maximum 2 minutes duration.

b. If final video is more than two minutes then it will be edited to ensure the consistency

c. If you are okay, you can send rehearsal videos of any length

d. The Participants are not permitted to do any acrobatics or dangerous stunts while shooting. VHP Canada reserves the rights to remove such contents without prior notice or permission

e. Make Sure the environment is quite to avoid background noise.

f. Although we encourage kids to enjoy the learning, submission must bring a true excellence in their efforts. In order to make sure their hard work is well presentable to global audience, we strongly recommend the following guidelines:

i. Kids should dress in relevant costume/attire while producing final video

ii. Anyone else working with the kids in the video should also wear relevant attire

iii. The rehearsal and final video should be shot in a safe and well-lit location.

iv. Parents must ensure that kids or any other community member is not in any danger during and after the rehearsal as well as the actual shoot. We are not making adventurous videos for maximum likes.

v. Any use of prop-weapons or actual weapons is strictly prohibited

vi. We encourage to shoot the videos during the day when kids are most comfortable to do so.

vii. No late night or very early morning shoots are allowed

viii. Any inappropriate contents will be removed without prior notice or consent

g. VHP Canada may ask parents to redo the video and submit if required

h. VHP Canada may ask for Hindi/English Translation (for any other language contents ) to ensure appropriate material is being published

i. With Submission Parents and participants give VHP Canada exclusive rights to use their videos for the cultural promotion and publication in relevant platforms

 

 

6) Review Process

a. VHP Canada Expert Panel will review the initial submissions based on the following criteria:

i. Presentation

ii. Delivery of the main participants

iii. Contents

iv. Completeness of the contents

v. Complexity

b. All the selected videos will be published on VHP Canada YouTube Channel for public views and reactions

c. Participants and their parents will have option to share VHP YouTube Channel with their network for voting

 

 

  1. Results and Prizes Guidelines

Although the primary purpose of this competition is to celebrate the Hindu Heritage Month and introduce our rich culture to the masses, still we at VHP believe in inculcating a competitive spirit among the participants.  We also believe that the best among the best must be rewarded for their performance and commitment to do their best. Rewards develop competitive spirit and determination in the kids.

The following are the evaluation and prize guidelines for this competition:

  1. VHP Canada reserves the full rights to evaluate/decide/reward the performance  based on the review process as given above
  2. The final prizes will be determined based on the:
    1. Expert Review
    2. Number of Likes at various platforms
  3. The following are the rewards at various levels:
    1. First Prize - $500
    2. Second Prize - $250
    3. Third Prize - $100
  4. VHP Canada may decide to add/remove any prizes at any given point during the competition
  5. Results will be announced as part of the concluding ceremony at the end of the Hindu Heritage Month
  6. As part of the prize, the following will be rewarded
    1. Prize Money
    2. Certificate of participation
    3. Sanaatan Oath
    4. Other culture literature
