Open Letter on Third Term Rents for University-Managed Accommodation at Lancaster University
Dear Vice-Chancellor,

Student renters, particularly those living in on-campus accommodation, are in a  precarious situation following the outbreak of COVID-19. Large groups of students have been forced to vacate their accommodation to return home due to this pandemic. Others have lost jobs, income and face uncertainty for the future.

Universities around the country, including the University of Liverpool, the University of Kent and the University of Chester, have waived third term rents for those living in university-managed accommodation. We believe that Lancaster University should act in the best interest of its students and do the same.

Therefore, we request:

1. That Lancaster University waive all rents for students living in any university managed accommodation for the third term of this academic year.

2. That you commit to meeting with us in order to ensure the welfare needs of student renters in university-managed accommodation are met at this time of great uncertainty.

Signed,

ACORN Lancaster and Morecambe
