At this time, I have open availability at 3:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Each tuition payment is due on or before the 1st day of the month. Late payments will be assessed a $20 fee each. Tuition may be paid via cash, check (made to “Jodi Marie Fisher”), or online bank transfer (via Venmo or PayPal @jodimariefisher).
An annual non-refundable fee of $35 per family is due with the first tuition installment. This fee covers studio business expenses (piano teacher subscriptions, printing costs, time spent doing admin work, and other studio business expenses).
Student books and materials are not included in the tuition. Students will periodically be asked to purchase music and supplies---the teacher will provide specific information on items needed and how and where to easily purchase them.
Should you need to purchase a new book before the school year starts or at any time throughout the year, I will let you know which book(s) and where to purchase them.
LOCATION:
At this time, I don't have a physical studio location, so I will come to your home/designated location. This can be where you express and decide and I will arrive there just before the lesson time.
Should a studio location be decided upon at a later date, you will be notified and let know to see if it would be there right place for lessons to take place.
ATTENDANCE & MISSED LESSON POLICY:
All lessons will be paid for, regardless of attendance. No make-up lessons, refunds, or discounts are provided for missed lessons/time. The tuition paid reserves an exclusive weekly time for the student. Unlike certain other professions, the teacher cannot resell that time nor can the teacher create extra teaching time in which to give lessons. You are therefore requested to choose a lesson day/time which works consistently with you/your child’s schedule.
You should have already been given a lesson time that works for you and my schedule as well. If not, we can talk on the phone, email, or text message to find a time that will work for you.
Any lesson that the teacher has to cancel will be made up. Make-up lessons can be held online, or rescheduled, or I will send a video lesson to make up for that, if an online video/zoom class doesn’t work for you.
Should a make up lesson on my absence be required, it will need to be made up or given a video lesson in its place the same month of tuition the lesson was missed.
Students who are ill should not come to lessons. The teacher reserves the right to send a student home or not to stay at the lessons if they are ill and/or are contagious to others.
PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS:
As a reminder of my music teaching style, practice times throughout the week are not required, however, the more your child practices, the faster they will progress at their instrument. And since I often teach young kids and my methods are slightly different than some traditional teachers, I suggest that you help your child decide when they can fit practicing in throughout the week.
Also, I believe that they learn a lot in their lessons whether they practice throughout the week or not. If your child’s personality lends more to daily practice, then support that. If your child is more like I was as a child, then they might play the piano and practice and make music a lot, but not necessarily on a strict schedule.
If you need any advice or support on how to approach piano practice throughout the week, please let me know.
TERMINATION OF LESSONS:
If you do not wish to continue with piano lessons, let me know before a new month has started. If you let me know by the first of the month, then the cost of lessons is not expected to be paid for that month.
It is expected that students will commit to lessons for the full month they pay for. Tuition is not refundable for lessons forfeited should students or parents choose not to attend any lessons in the month paid for.
Regrettably, the teacher will have to dismiss a student if any of the circumstances occur: unpaid tuition, an excessive number of absences, or an uncooperative attitude.
