Book Dash Durban Application Form
Durban creatives, are you ready?
We heard your call and Book Dash is coming back to KZN for the first time since 2015!

Help us on our mission to make sure that every child owns a hundred books by the age of five.

On a single Book Dash day, teams of volunteer creatives work fast to make beautiful African children’s books that anyone can freely access, print and distribute.
All our books are made in 12-hour sprints by creative professionals who volunteer their time and talent because they believe in our vision. Each team consists of a writer, an illustrator, a designer and an editor. Expert Book Dash facilitators will be around to keep you on track.

Since 2014, we've published 176 books this way, and printed and distributed over 2.5 million copies to young children across the country to own.

This is the Comrades of creativity and we'd love you to join us!

Our next event is kindly sponsored by the Otto Foundation Trust and the Young Presidents' Organisation (Durban Chapter). It will take place at the TWIMS Kloof Campus on Saturday the 29th October 2022.
  • To participate, you'll need to be a creative professional. There'll be a little prepwork before the event, but most importantly, you need to be available from 9am to 9pm on the Saturday. You have to be able to be physically present for the entire time on the day, this is not negotiable.
  • You will also need to get yourself to and from the venue on the day. We provide lots of good food and drinks to keep you going throughout the day! Our aim with Book Dash events is to attract great creatives from the surrounding area. However, applicants from further afar are welcome to apply as long as you are able to arrange and cover your own transport and accommodation.
  • In the following form, you will tell us about yourself, and your writing, editing, designing, or illustrating experience. You will apply as an individual, but can request to work with a friend, provided you are both successful in your applications and apply for different roles within the team.
  • This is a volunteer-based event, and no one gets paid for their participation on the day: the books are our gift to the world!

Applications close on Tuesday 13th September 2022.
No late applications can be accepted.
