Thank you for joining our March Madness Camps. We are committed to providing a wonderful experience for all our campers. The following is a statement of our policies and consents, which we require that you read, agree to, and sign prior to your child attending our camp.

Enrollment: To be eligible for the March Madness Camps participants must be eight to eleven years of age. All experiments will be age appropriate. This application is used to determine acceptance into program. Once a camp week is full, your child’s name will be put on the waiting list in the order it was received. Parents or guardians must complete and submit a registration form and a release form. A confirmation email will be sent once participant is enrolled.

Camp Times: Camps run from 8:00am-12:00pm. There will be no transportation provided. We discourage late arrival and early departure for the benefit of the participant. The success and education of a camp experience is dependent upon full-time participation. In the event circumstances arise beyond MPU’s control, MPU reserves the right to cancel a camp. You will be notified as soon as possible if that happens.

What to Bring/Wear: Parents/Guardians are responsible for sending students to camp adequately dressed and prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Dress in play clothes that can get dirty and NO FLIP-FLOPS, please. Closed toed shoes. (Athletic shoes preferred) We strongly suggest bringing insect repellant and sunscreen. We will be providing water and light snacks throughout the day.

Cell phones and electronics: Please do not allow student to bring any electronics, toys or other distractions. Cell phones are permitted but only for contacting parents. McAllen Public Utility is not responsible for lost or damaged electronics.

Behavior Issues: MPU is committed to the idea that each camper should have a positive and enjoyable experience, and the misbehavior of campers should not be allowed to negatively impact the experience of others. Students must listen to staff at all times. MPU reserves the right to dismiss a child for consistent behavior that makes it difficult for the staff to meet his or her needs and/or the needs of other children in the group. Parents will be contacted if behavioral issues continue and cannot be resolved.

Emergency contacting: The safety and well-being of our participants is our highest priority. In the event of situations involving injury, accidents, medical need, repetitive behavioral problems, etc., parents or guardians will be contacted. If parents or guardians are not available we will contact the emergency contact listed on the application. Participants should stay home if they are ill. If participant arrives with any symptoms or a high body temperature, they will be sent home.

Media Release: Upon enrolling in MPU camps, the parent/guardian and student authorizes McAllen Public Utility to the use of photos, quotes or video footage from camp programs for the purpose of marketing.

Student Release Form: In consideration of accepting the participant, the parent/guardian agrees to hold harmless the City of McAllen, its agents and employees, also, where applicable, McAllen Public Utility, its agents and employees, from any and all liability resulting from the student’s participation in camps provided by MPU, whether such liability is caused by accident, third party negligence or the negligence of any of the students.
