Mentoring for Pandemic Times: Jan to June 2022
BACKGROUND
Mentoring for Pandemic Times offers you a chance to talk with an experienced, skilled mentor about careers, job-finding, and direction-setting in the challenging, sometimes impossible, circumstances of Covid-19.

As a result of the tremendous positive feedback we have received from the previous  mentoring schemes, we have decided to continue the programme for the year 2022. The focus is still on general mentoring, and not sector specific but we will do our best to find the best match possible.

This mentoring scheme is for undergraduates , graduate students at Homerton, plus those who graduated from 2020 onwards  at Homerton.

This programme is hosted by Changemakers and the college's Development Office.

Note: Students who have participated in previous mentoring schemes will only be considered if there are places left!

Deadline is 3rd Dec 2022, 5pm. Late applications will not be dealt with.

HOW IT WORKS:

Timeline: From Jan to June 2022

Time required: from 3 to 5 hours max, according to your availability. Some people prefer to meet weekly; others  fortnightly or even monthly. There is, however, an expectation of a minimum of 3 meetings totalling at least 3 hours

Process:
-You are invited to apply to the scheme - using this form -  including a short paragraph on what you hope to gain from the mentoring process. Please take note that this application form will be shared with your Mentor in the email introduction.

-College staff will then ‘match’ you with a mentor and make an email introduction. You will be expected to contact your Mentor within five days after having received the email introduction to arrange for a suitable time to meet.( Staff will, of course, be available to support the process if needed.)

Tools for communication: to be decided by mentor and mentee (e.g.  Zoom; Teams; WhatsApp)

Topics: this is an ‘open conversation’, from career decisions to job-finding to balancing work with the rest of life,  whatever you wish. The usual rules of respect, openness, consideration and politeness apply

Confidentiality:  discussions are confidential unless the mentor is concerned about the safety of the mentee, or anyone else’s

Feedback: At the end of the process, we will ask all participants to fill in a (very short) questionnaire about their experiences

Please submit your form by  3rd Dec,2021, 5pm. NOTE: Any submissions after this deadline will not be dealt with.

We will be in touch latest by mid January 2022.
