2022 POGIL Summer Workshop Scholarship Application

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2022

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor to The POGIL Project, scholarships have been established to help The Project meet the goals of its strategic plan. (https://pogil.org/about-the-pogil-project/pogil-strategic-plan) Scholarships are available for the following summer events:

Fundamentals of POGIL Virtual Workshop (August 3-4)
Activity Writing Virtual Workshop (July 25-29)
3-Day In-Person Workshop at Linfield University (July 11-13)*
3-Day In-Person Workshop at Washington University in St. Louis (July 18-20)*

(*For in-person workshops, scholarships include the registration fee and the optional on-campus housing fee. Travel expenses to and from the workshop are the responsibility of the applicant.)

The goal of the scholarship is to increase the number of POGIL practitioners among rural middle school and high school teachers, as well as those educators from Historically Black Colleges or Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges who have limited or no access to professional development funds. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on meeting eligibility criteria and demonstrating a commitment to student-centered learning. A limited number of scholarships are available.

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Be a middle school or high school teacher who teaches in a rural county within the United States or its territories OR be an educator from a Historically Black College or University, Hispanic Serving Institution, or Tribal College.
2. Have limited or no access to professional development funds.
3. Have a commitment to student-centered learning.

Scholarship awardees will be notified by May 15, 2022. Scholarship recipients will subsequently have until June 1, 2022 to register online for the workshop(s) and will be required to pay a $25 non-refundable fee toward the cost of each workshop. To attend the POGIL Activity Writing workshop, you must have previously completed a Fundamentals of POGIL workshop OR have a attended a 1-day or 3-day POGIL workshop.
