In the institute, middle and high school social studies teachers, educational leaders, and teachers in related fields will learn about the geographies, histories, belief systems and economies of China, Japan, the Koreas, and Taiwan. They will also learn about historical and contemporary topics that affect both Asian countries and U.S.-Asia relations. In the space below, please address why you are interested in attending this institute and how you might use what you learn to better educate your students or improve the curriculum or extra-curricular activities in your school or school district. (Please limit your response to no more than 500 words.) *
If accepted for this professional development program, I agree to complete brief online preparatory assignments, and attend the Thursday, June 23rd and Friday, June 24th, 2022 two-day institute. I agree to submit a brief essay on East Asia content and/or teaching resources I learned about in the workshop that will be applicable to teaching East Asia in one or more of my courses in either the fall or spring semesters or assisting other educators to include more content about East Asia in their school or district. All East Asia teaching resource follow-up essays are due on or before Monday, September 12, 2022. *
