Description of Event:
This is the perfect introduction to racing! Here at HMMC we are all about teaching, practicing, and applying safe riding and racing! HMMC works with so many kids and adults through the camps and saw the need to host an extension of the camp curriculum, but with a focus on racing. We see so many riders show up to race tracks not knowing anything about racing. This can be very intimidating for both rider and parents. The HMMC races were developed specifically for the Kids and or new riders, even the track was designed for new riders with everything being very progressive and safe. There are different classes to suit each riders ability and ensure they are in the right group to promote confidence and safety for themselves and other riders. After sign in all motorcycles get inspected at TECH to ensure they are in safe working order. All riders are required to attend a riders meeting where the rules both on and off track are discussed. The track is open for a track walk where Hawk Mazzotta and instructors will talk about the different parts of the track relating to both race strategy and safety, safe track entry and exit, the different flags and their meanings, etc.
At the beginning of each practice session, riders will be led around the track by Hawk, and the instructors will circulate the track the whole session watching riders and ensuring they are safe, and are available for coaching and debriefs post practice. The sessions are meant to mimic a full race event including heat races, and a main event. Upon conclusion of the day trophies are given out to the top three finishers in each class and there is a race day wrap up to discuss, reflect, and answer any questions. The hope is that this provides young riders with a strong foundation, inspiring confidence and safe racing!
