STUDIO Application for Faculty (Fall 2022)

ABOUT THE STUDIO UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH LAB
*********************************************************
The STUDIO undergraduate research lab was officially launched in 2020 to provide top-notch hands-on training for undergraduate students in social science research. We admit undergraduates as STUDIO fellows who are matched with research projects and paid to work as research assistants. STUDIO fellows attend lab-sponsored professionalization and socialization events, present their research at CU and outside the university, and submit their work for publication. Events have included workshops on academic writing, publishing, civic engagement, and STUDIO students' presentations of their work in the lab.

STUDIO prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. We seek to admit diverse cohorts of students and to foster an inclusive climate in our lab and at CU.

PROPOSE A RESEARCH PROJECT - WORK WITH TALENTED STUDENTS!
**************************************************************************
We are seeking applications from faculty for research projects in which you could work with undergraduate research assistants. On the next page of the application, we have detailed the specific expectations for research advisors. When possible, we try to assign 2 or more students to a project to foster teamwork and community building, but there is no requirement that you work with more than 1 student.

Your undergraduate research assistant would be asked to work approximately 5 hours a week as your research assistant during the semester and to check in with you at least bi-weekly.  We expect most students to be with STUDIO for the full academic year although this is not a requirement.

Examples of work that STUDIO students have done:
* Collect news articles
* Code international reports to update a human rights database
* Prepare case studies
* Translate materials
* Write a literature review
* Collect research materials (specifically, all available syllabi on undergraduate methods courses)
* Conduct survey analysis
* And much more!

SPECIAL CALL FOR RESEARCH ON DIVERSITY, EQUITY, OR INCLUSION
**************************************************************************
STUDIO prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion. As such, we are eager to include at least some proposals which focuses on an aspect of diversity, equity, or inclusion. Faculty from all disciplines and methodological approaches are encouraged to apply.
