Eligible Students:

Public, Charter, Homeschool, Parochial within the age range of 14 to 19 and in grades 9th through 12th. 


Submission Criteria
- Local climate solution theme 
- Each team may submit up to two entries
- Video length: 3 to 4 minutes
- Must be original work
- Science based

Possible Themes: Themes can be about any climate solution and/or action to help the climate in Idaho.  We would like students to consider the economic implications also.  Possible student topics:  

  • Recycling

  • Circular Economy

  • Tackling Food Waste

  • Renewable energy (solar, wind, geothermal)

  • Whole Foods and Plant Based diet

  • Regenerative Agriculture 

  • Businesses with Wind or Solar Power

  • Electric Vehicles

  • Community Solar

  • Electricity Storage Solutions 

  • Brownfields to Bright Fields

Students will be judged on the following criteria:
  • Overall Climate Message: Solution-oriented information, science based, focused, relevant, and well-researched
  • Originality: Shows curiosity, uses divergent varied perspectives, and a cross-disciplinary approach that reflects individuality
  • Clarity & Communication: Engaging, cohesive, appealing and effectively holds the audience's attention throughout
  • Impact: Links the solution with the need. Evokes strong empathy, and a sense a urgency regarding the climate issue

Video File Format and Submission Information:

  • Videos should be horizontal orientation (landscape format, wider than it is tall)
  • Aspect ratio of 16:9, but 3:2 will work also.
  • File types MP3, MOV.  (If you are filming in other formats, please convert to MP3 or MOV before submission)

  • Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo and send the film link to: kevinbradshaw26@gmail.com
  • Write your film’s objective in 2 to 3 sentences maximum and include that in the video description or send it to Kevinbradshaw.

Students may work in teams.  The Registration form is on the next page, please list all members on your team and their emails, with the Lead vidiographer first.  Teams may submit up to two entries.  Only winners will be required to sign originality and release forms.  Click here to view the Creator release form  Click here to view the Model release form.
