7th STEM (Science - Technology - Engineering - Math) - Mr. Poehner
This STEM course is a Design and Prototype Modeling class at EMS.
In the 7th grade STEM class students acquire knowledge and skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation as well as explore STEM careers.
Students are introduced to the design process and sketching techniques to document and capture their ideas.
Students use industry standard 3-D modeling software to create a virtual image of their designs and produce prototype models to showcase their creative solutions to real life consumer needs.
Design and Modeling is the first in the Gateway series of the PLTW or Project Lead the Way courses at Edgewood Middle School.

7th COMPUTER - Mr. Campbell
App Creators: App Creators introduces students to the field of computer science and the concepts of computational thinking, through the creation of mobile apps. Students are challenged to be creative and innovative, as they collaboratively design and develop mobile solutions to engaging, authentic problems.

P.E. / HEALTH - Mr. Colegate
Our 6th, 7th and 8th grade department is fully devoted to the health and wellness of the body and the mind. We focus on and teach through Character education, with multiple different movement activities and units, as well as emphasizing the importance of personal goal setting. Each year in middle school is a stepping stone to build on the previous year. All three grade level teachers work together to bring a comprehensive curriculum that allows students many different opportunities to express themselves through a large variety of health and physically related activities over a three year span.

7th ART - Mrs. Brown
This is a one semester course designed to review and build upon value, perspective, grid drawing and color theory taught in 6th Grade Art. Students are encouraged to explore using a variety of watercolor, graphite, sculpture and ink mediums. This is a fun creative course for any student who wants to improve at art. This course is wrapped up with an art show, showcasing their hard work at the end of the school year.
