Returning Fellows Interview Questions AY 23/24

Welcome, and congratulations on finishing the Second Cohort for College Corps!  We are so glad you are wanting to participate in College Corps again! We would like to make sure that, as a returning Fellow, you get to use your experiences and skills from our previous year(s). We would also like to ensure that you have a deeper experience during your second year or third year and are able to continue to build your leadership skills and awareness of community issues.

All Fellows will be required to attend a Matching Fair on Thursday, April 25th from 3-6 pm in LIB_202A (Author's Hall on Cal Poly Humboldt Campus) during which they will introduce themselves to Community Partner sites and network with incoming Cohort 3 Fellows.

Fellow Applications for Cohort 3 have a priority deadline of Friday, March 22, 2024. We will continue to take applications after March 22nd and once our Cohort is filled applicants will be added to the waitlist.

Requirements for next year:

  • To be eligible for Cohort 3, Cohort 2 Fellows must reach at least 450 hours by the end of May 31, 2024

  • Fellows must have demonstrated excellent motivation, responsibility, and communication in AY 23/24

What will be different for Cohort 3:
  • Matching Fair - Friday, April 25th 3-6 pm in LIB_202A (Author's Hall on Cal Poly Humboldt Campus)

All Community Partner sites and all Fellows will attend this Matching Fair. You will have a chance to review all the Community Partner sites and projects before attending. At this event, you will get a chance to meet with any Community Partners you are interested in, and to ask questions in order to help you prioritize your preferences. You should have your Fall 2024 schedule finalized, and be ready to share and discuss it with these Community Partners. At the end, you will submit a list of your top preferences to College Corps staff. (Community Partners will be submitting a similar list, of Fellows they would like to work with.) We will take these preferences into consideration when matching you for Cohort 3.
  • College Corps Course (1 unit) - Wednesday 5:00-6:50 p.m. (Biweekly)

All Cal Poly Humboldt Fellows will be required to enroll in our 1-unit College Corps course next year. AHSS 480: College Corps will be held every other Wednesday, 5:00-6:50 p.m., on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus. College of the Redwood fellows are required to enroll in CR's internship course and will also be required to attend our biweekly course at Cal Poly Humboldt.

The course will support a College Corps cohort experience; the time you spend in the class will count as training hours; through these meetings, you will receive individualized as well as group support (for scheduling, managing America Learns, etc.). The course will include career curriculum, critical reflection on your service experience, and the opportunity to network with your peers and learn more about other community site organizations. Registration in AHSS 480: College Corps, and regular attendance, are required for participation in College Corps.

If you have any questions, please email the College Corps Team, Shalom Fletcher & Gino Pitino at collegecorps@humboldt.edu or check out our webpage.
