GAP (Great Apprenticeship Program) Year is a program for any high school senior in Marshall County. The GAP Year program allows students to sign up for a 12-month job with a local employer following graduation in May and beginning each June. Any student interested would simply fill out the form below to apply.
This is open to any high school senior in Marshall County but is really geared toward any senior that does not plan to go to college, TCAT, military etc. and/or has no real idea of what it is they want to do as a career after high school. This program will give that student an opportunity to experience different career paths at one of our local employers to assist in their career exploration.
Employers would agree before we begin the program to participate in this way:
Hire the student at a reasonable wage for 12 months
3 months the student will work in Division/Section/Occupation A
Next 3 months the student will work in Division/Section/Occupation B
Third 3 months the student will work in Division/Section/Occupation C
and Fourth 3 months the student will work in Division/Section/Occupation D
At the end of the 12-month Apprenticeship, the student will receive a certificate of completion from Lewisburg ECD, Marshall Co. JECDB and Employer. Then, the student will be interviewed to determine next steps:
Sign on full time with employer in Division/Section/Occupation A, B, C or D
Pursue more education from TCAT/Community College/University
